Right now players have 24 hours to prepare for an attack. That means you are notifying your opponent of an attack. They could text and coordinate to get there A team on the next day.
That's stripping the element of surprise. So many corps feel comfortable owning multiple districts because they get a 24 hour notice.
Take that away, and they will feel vulnerable.
****LET US ATTACK INSTANTLY. If you see a reinforcement timer of 23:00 and it is 22:50, you could impulsively buy a clone pack and attack it.
Attacking corps will have to launch the attack within a 10 minute window. 5 minutes before the reinforcement time, or 5 minutes after.
So in the example of 23:00
You can attack at 22:55-23:05
After that your window has been missed.
Example of Regular Corp
Proto Core has 1 district that had a defense timer of 23:00
It is 22:50. They don't know if it will be attacked or not, so they get paranoid to load there A team into a pub match. They have there team on standby, nothing happens. That's ok, so they just go and play pub. Doing this once a day is annoying for members, but manageable.
Example of Greedy Corp
Titan Core has 7 districts, that has defense timers of 23:00, 24:00 ,0:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00.
You know what that means? You have to have a 16 man team on def con alert status for 7 hours every day?! Yup. Your players will tell there CEO to make love to a lamp post.
It will be impossible to protect that much land, unless your some mega corp that has an active corp with talented players on at all times.
This will break the choke hold any mega alliance has right now. They will get stressed out from the paranoia of whether they are getting attacked or not. They will subsidize to a manageable realistic number of districts.
Alot of people will say this is making the game work. Yup, it is. The game involves a lot of politics, campaigning, meta gaming. If you want to play war, then war could happen at anytime, you don't get a 24 hour notification during war time, it just happens.
Don't be greedy, take what you could realistically hold. Many smaller corps will rise and take there one district. It gives everyone a chance. They'll never go with this, people play other games and do have lives (surprising, I know). Imagine the low end corps that have 40-100 people, these corps would go by the same rule, little amount of time to gather 16 players? Good luck.
Not only that. This will do nothing to affect the "blue doughnut" it will make it worse because only large, 24/7 corporations could participate.
The primary reason for the 24 hour timer, and the reason it won't be changed, is because it let's players from disparate timezones participate in the same game. |
